Mr Price Group Limited, is a publicly traded retail company based in South Africa. Founded in 1985, Mr Price opened in 1987 after the owners bought a controlling interest in John Orrs Holdings, whose trading divisions at the time were The Hub and Miladys. Currently their trading divisions are Mr Price, Miladys, Mr Price Sport, Mr Price Home and Sheet Street.

It all began in Durban, South Africa. One idea by two visionaries quickly grew to multiple stores around the country. Fast forward more than thirty years later and now we're bringing hot fashion across ladies, mens and kids at unbelievable value to stores across Africa, and worldwide through mrprice.com and the Mr Price app.

The group launched its first Mr Price Home store in 1998. The group was re-named Mr Price in 2001, reflecting the fact that its Mr Price outlets had become the most profitable part of its operations. In 2005 Galaxy & Co. and The Hub were sold to their respective management teams.

The very first Mr Price Apparel stores were franchised because of their lack of funds. However when John Orrs Ltd, which also owned Miladys, was acquired in 1986 by Stewart and Laurie in partnership with a bank, the listed company began opening Mr Price stores and acquiring the franchised stores
